So, it’s Father’s Day, and my father’s barely speaking with me. I got a new computer as a graduation present, and two days ago he was doing stuff to help set it up because he’s cool like that. But it was a hot day, and I saw him wipe sweat off his face and then go right back to typing on my brand-new keyboard, so I was kinda grossed out and asked him not to do that. Then he just started screaming at me and saying he was done and he’s never going to help me with computer stuff again, and now he won’t speak with me. I think I made a perfectly reasonable request and he way overreacted, and obviously he thinks I’m an ungrateful little bitch who doesn’t appreciate him at all. Both perspectives are justified, I suppose. But later that night, I sucked it up and went and apologized to him, even though I didn’t think I had anything to apologize for. But he just told me to go away. Yesterday he didn’t say anything to me (although, granted, I was out for most of the day.) Today, I told him “Happy Father’s Day,” and he just rolled his eyes, said “Thanks,” and went back to ignoring me.

So now I feel like I can’t give my dad his Father’s Day gift or card, because they’re kind of humorous making-fun-of-him type gifts that he would normally laugh at, but at this point I’m pretty sure he’d hate them. And my mom (who’s on my dad’s side with all of this, even though she didn’t actually hear what happened, because she’s always on board with believing I’m an ungrateful little bitch) says I should go apologize to him again, and that even if I don’t think I was in the wrong, I should suck it up. But I already did suck it up and apologize, quite nicely, and he rejected it. I feel I shouldn’t have to apologize TWICE for something I didn’t do because he wasn’t mature enough to accept it the first time. I also don’t think any apology I could give at this point would sound remotely sincere, because I don’t feel I have anything to be sorry for now, and certainly nothing that wasn’t covered the first time. At the same time, though, I don’t want my dad to hate me for no reason, and I want to be able to talk to him again. I miss him. I don’t even care about the computer stuff; I can do that on my own, but I don’t want him glaring at me whenever I walk into the room.

So, followers: What should I do?

“A young woman was restrained, force-fed and injected with cosmetics in a high street shop window as part of a hard-hitting protest against animal testing.

Jacqueline Traide was tortured in front of hundreds of horrified shoppers in a bid to raise awareness and end the practise.

The 24-year-old endured 10 hours of experiments, which included having her hair shaved and irritants squirted in her eyes, as part of a worldwide campaign by Lush Cosmetics and The Humane Society.

The disturbing stunt took place in Lush’s Regent Street store, one of the UK’s busiest shopping streets.

Jacqueline appeared genuinely terrified as she was pinned down on a bench and had her mouth stretched open with two metal hooks while a man in a white coat force-fed her until she choked and gagged.

The artist was also injected with numerous needles, had her skin braised and lotions and creams smeared across her face.

Passers-by were gobsmacked to see Jacqueline, a social sculpture student at Oxford Brookes University, forced to have a section of her head shaved.

The gruesome spectacle aimed to highlight the cruelty inflicted on animals during cosmetic laboratory tests and raise awareness that animal testing is still a common practise.

The Humane Society International and Lush Cosmetics have joined forces to launch the largest-ever global campaign to end animal testing for cosmetics.

The campaign, launched to coincide with World Week for Animals in Laboratories, is being rolled out simultaneously in over 700 Lush Ltd shops across forty-seven countries including the United States, Canada, India, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea and Russia.

Lush campaign manager Tamsin Omond said: “The ironic thing is that if it was a beagle in the window and we were doing all these things to it, we’d have the police and RSPCA here in minutes.

“But somewhere in the world, this kind of thing is happening to an animal every few seconds on average.

“The difference is, it’s normally hidden. We need to remind people it is still going on.”

They didn’t just kidnap this woman and force her to do this. She was clearly a volunteer. Yes, they meant artist because that’s her major; her major is social sculpture, which is what this IS. This is her art. Maybe “THIS IS NOT HOW YOU MAKE A POINT HOLY SHIT,” but she was the one making the point right alongside the cosmetics company; it’s ridiculous to get outraged over what was done TO her when it’s her own art. I sure hope she’s okay, but the people who are saying this is cruel or whatever are completely missing the point: that we worry when it happens to a human, but it happens to animals every day, and as long as it’s hidden it’s fine. How the fuck can people miss that? THAT’S THE WHOLE FUCKING POINT. The artist isn’t the fucking victim here — and she IS an artist; just Google it. Get your heads out of your asses and think about what this is actually saying instead of just being like “OMG THEY’RE TORTURING HER HOW COULD THEY.”
